Jonathan McMillan, who some people call Jono is a Sound Engineer/Producer who lives in East London, UK but grew up in a small town in Canada. Since coming to London in 2008, Jonathan has been climbing up the sound engineer ladder again in the UK after selling his own recording studio and live sound production company in Ottawa Canada. Climbing back up from the bottom has been a humbling but incredibly useful experience for Jono as he has been able to learn his craft all over again from many incredible sound engineers  such as Dennis Weinreich, Jonathan Shakhovskoy, Ben Matthews, Ken Thomas, Gwyn Mathias, and Paul Madden.

During this period Jonathan assisted, engineered, tracked, mixed and mastered whatever was needed and became an incredibly valuable asset at Smokehouse Studios in East London.  While in the UK, Jonathan has worked with artists such as Razorlight, Stephen Dale Petit, Paul Camilerri, and Gunilla Backman.

Jonathan is now forging his own path again engineering sessions in studios all over London and has done music for Universal, Microsoft, Film4 and many other media applications. He has worked with great composers and arrangers like Andrew Skeet, Daniel Pemberton and David White. Jonathan’s recordings have been played on BBC Radio, BBC TV and XFM as well as being sold with over 8 million video games.

Jono enjoys tracking bands the most because as he says it, “It’s all about the song in the end, and I want to be there when the magic happens!” Jonathan has also become sought after in London’s East end by many indie artists to mix and master their projects. So on April 2nd I had the unique privilege to work with Keane and record the audio for their Sun Biz Session. This was a big day for me because I had been a Keane fan for quite some time and this was the first time I had ever had the chance to work for someone who was already in my music collection when I left from Canada four years ago. So it was a big day for me and everyone in the band were so kind. They even deal with my star-struckness as I asked them to sign my cd.
